Come meet the adoptable dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, and mice. PHS is showcasing animals in hopes of finding permanent homes for them, and will also answer questions about PHS/SPCA services and other animal related questions.

Come join us at the Redwood City Public Library for a presentation on World War II by Burton Newman.  Mr. Newman was a pilot in the War and has an interesting perspective to share.  The presentation will give a brief history of World War II with details  about the planes he flew followed by a question and answer session.  Join us on May 19th, 2008 @ 5:00  for this inter-generational presentation.

Minimally Invasive Treatment of Lumbar Stenosis
Lumbar spinal canal stenosis is a narrowing in the space in the lower spine that carries
nerves to your legs. This space is very small. As the lumbar spinal canal shrinks, the nerves that go through it are squeezed. This squeezing may cause back pain, leg pain and leg weakness. This talk will address minimally invasive techniques for treatment of this troublesome condition.  Speaker:  Todd Alamin, MD Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Stanford University Medical Center

Edwin A. Lozada is the editor of Field of Mirrors: An Anthology of Philippine American Writers.  “For a burst of versatile and fresh spirits…it’s hard to beat this anthology extracted from the wide spectrum of human experience.” - Oscar Penaranda, President, Filipino American National Historical Society, San Francisco East Bay Chapter.  Authors reading will include Oscar Peñaranda, Marianne Villanueva, Edwin Lozada, Evangeline C. Buell, Gayle Romasanta and Jennifer Almiron.  Edwin Lozada is president of Philippine American Writers and Artists, Inc.  He writes in Spanish and English and is the author of two books of poetry: Anonymous Dreams/Sueños anónimos (Carayan Press, 2001), Sketches/Bosquejos(Carayan Press, 2003). He teaches Spanish language and literature at Woodside High School.
